Mehran University of Engineering and Technology (MUET), Jamshoro, successfully hosted the 64th meeting of the Management Review Committee (MRC) today at Prof. Dr. Haji Mahmood Senate Hall. The meeting was presided over by members of the Quality Council, along with esteemed university officials, to discuss the progress and improvements within the university’s quality management and academic structure.
The meeting began with a confirmation of the minutes from the 63rd MRC meeting held in August 2024. The committee reviewed the follow-up actions from previous resolutions and discussed reports from various departments and academic bodies. Among the key issues discussed were:
- Weeding Out of Records: Departments of Textile Engineering and Mechanical Engineering were commended for submitting records to the Resident Auditor (RA) as per the resolutions of the 60th MRC meeting.
- Financial Support for Final Year Projects: The committee led by Prof. Dr. Aftab Ahmed Memon and members from all deans submitted a comprehensive framework for financial and technical support for final-year students’ projects. This was highlighted as a critical initiative to strengthen industrial linkages for student development.
- Academic Roles and Responsibilities: The committee approved the Job Descriptions (JDs) for Teaching Assistants (TA), Research Assistants (RA), and Class Advisors (CA). Further, the JDs for Academic Counsellors were discussed and finalized for further implementation.
- Postgraduate and Undergraduate Student Feedback: Feedback from students of various departments and programs was also tabled, with a focus on enhancing customer satisfaction and incorporating the feedback into the upcoming academic sessions.
- Internal and External Audits: Results from the 3rd Surveillance Audit, conducted between August 21-23, 2024, were presented. The committee noted that no major observations were recorded, and preparations are underway for the 4th Surveillance Audit scheduled for March 2025 at the SZAB Campus.
The Quality Council members further discussed the ongoing development of the SMART Quality Objectives for 2024, which aim to elevate the educational standards and administrative efficiency of the university.
Prof. Dr. Sheeraz Ahmed Memon, Chair of the Quality Council, expressed his satisfaction with the university’s progress toward its academic and administrative goals, emphasizing the need for continuous improvements in quality management systems and collaboration with industry partners.
The meeting concluded with all departments urged to align their activities with the university’s mission to foster academic excellence, research innovation, and quality assurance.
