QEC, originally established in 2001 as the ISO 9000 Cell, emerged from Mehran University of Engineering and Technology’s (MUET Jamshoro) initiative to implement the ISO 9000 Quality Management System (QMS) and enhance educational quality. After achieving ISO 9000 certification in 2003, the unit continuously expanded its scope to encompass additional quality improvement areas. In 2007, it was renamed the Quality Enhancement Cell (QEC).

Today, QEC serves as a bridge between MUET Jamshoro and the Higher Education Commission (HEC) of Pakistan. It also collaborates with quality assurance personnel from various Pakistani institutions to promote quality initiatives at MUET Jamshoro. The cell’s activities encompass conducting Self-Assessment (SA), Institutional Performance Evaluation (IPE), Postgraduate Program Review (PGPR), Internal Quality Audit (IQA), Management Review (MR), along with anti-plagiarism efforts, seminars, workshops, conferences, and quality surveillance.
