Mehran University of Engineering & Technology (MUET), Jamshoro, held its 158th Syndicate meeting on Saturday, October 19, 2024, at the U.S.-Pakistan Center for Advanced Studies in Water. The meeting, presided over by Vice-Chancellor Prof. Dr. Tauha Hussain Ali, brought together esteemed Syndicate members to review and approve essential matters related to the university’s strategic growth and operational efficiency.

During the meeting, the Syndicate confirmed minutes from previous sessions and reviewed compliance reports, reaffirming MUET’s commitment to continuous improvement and transparency in its decision-making processes.

Key Agenda Highlights:

  1. Academic Council Recommendations – The Syndicate discussed and approved several updates to the Ph.D. Regulations (Batch-24), as well as recommendations from the 107th Academic Council meeting, to enhance MUET’s academic standards and foster research excellence.

  2. Human Resources Updates – The Syndicate approved the appointments and extensions of key faculty and administrative personnel, emphasizing MUET’s focus on retaining and advancing academic talent. This includes appointments on the Selection Board and confirmation of faculty tenure.

  3. Financial Oversight – The Finance & Planning Committee presented revised budget estimates for FY 2023-2024 and proposed budgets for FY 2024-2025, reflecting MUET’s commitment to fiscal responsibility and long-term sustainability. The Syndicate approved allocations for self-finance funds and budget estimates for MUET’s campuses, including the U.S.-Pakistan Center for Advanced Studies in Water and the Shaheed Z. A. Bhutto Campus.

  4. Strategic Planning for Growth – The Syndicate reviewed the latest recommendations for investment and resource optimization, which aim to address MUET’s operational needs and further strengthen the university’s position as a leading institution in engineering and technology education.

  5. Commitment to Student and Staff Welfare – The university also approved measures to enhance subsidies for students and employees and introduced policies aimed at supporting final-year students in engineering programs, reinforcing MUET’s commitment to nurturing future industry leaders.

The meeting concluded with an appreciation of the university’s ongoing efforts to advance its academic, administrative, and financial goals.
